Free guided hike sponsored by Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation. This scenic hike ascends to the crest of the Taconic Range (average elevation 2200’), with fine views both east and west. The Crest Trail, built in the 1920s, extends 35 miles from Pittsfield to Petersburg, NY. Hike up and over Berlin Mountain (elevation 2798’), see a stunning 360-degree view, pass the Berlin Pass Trail and go around Mt. Raimer to Petersburg Pass, with another great look down into the valley.
The hike is a strenuous 3+ hours. Water, snack and sturdy shoes or boots recommended. Meet at the parking lot at Petersburg Pass. Click for map., Rt. 2 at 9:00 a.m. Carpool from there to the Phelps trailhead. Severe weather cancels.
