Williamstown is blessed with two major north-south hiking trails, the Appalachian Trail and the Taconic Crest Trail. Have you ever wished you could get from one trail to the other, so as to hike a complete “ring” around Williamstown? Maybe one day you can. Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation has announced plans to create a continuous “Ring Trail.” As a first step, WRLF is sponsoring, as part of its 2017 series of monthly guided hikes, the first “Williamstown Ring Hike Series,” to take place on five Saturdays this summer. Each segment of the “Ring Hike” will follow established hiking trails that lead up and over Mt. Greylock, Berlin Mountain and East Mountain.
The first segment of the “Ring Hike” will be from the summit of Mt. Greylock to the Roaring Brook trail head Hikers will meet at the WRLF office at “Sheep Hill” at 9 am, and car-pool to the Roaring Brook trail head on Roaring Brook Rd., off Rt. 7, in Williamstown.Bring a snack, and wear sturdy shoes.
