Williamstown is blessed with two major north-south hiking trails, the Appalachian Trail and the Taconic Crest Trail. Have you ever wished you could get from one trail to the other, so as to hike a complete “ring” around Williamstown? Maybe one day you can. Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation has announced plans to create a continuous “Ring Trail.” As a first step, WRLF is sponsoring, as part of its 2017 series of monthly guided hikes, the first “Williamstown Ring Hike Series,” taking place on five Saturdays this summer. Each segment of the “Ring Hike” follows established hiking trails that lead up and over Mt. Greylock, Berlin Mountain and East Mountain.
The last of the ring series will be on Saturday August 19: Climbing Greylock via the Appalachian Trail, completing the ring hike. Hikers meet at 9AM at the parking area for the AT on Pattison Rd. in North Adams (reached via Luce Rd. Williamstown). Transportation from the summit will be provided. 5.2 Miles, strenuous
